Cities of the Sky
Songdo International Business District was featured in Greg Lindsay's Wall Street Journal article, "Cities of the Sky" in this weekend's edition. The article, which discuses the concept of the aerotropolis in regards to future urban development, includes the $35B Songdo as a living and breathing modern day example of an aerotropolis, with Stan Gale as developer.
The article, which highlights Songdo IBD's aspirations of being the world's smartest, greenest city, leads with an image of the Songdo skyline, which is also repeated on the front page of the newspaper.
A second aerial image of the city is featured with details about Songdo's most prominent architectural elements and their respective amenities. The Incheon Bridge, connecting Songdo with the hub at Incheon International airport, Central Park, touted as an "eco park," Convensia and First World Towers, an "instant neighborhood," are highlighted. NEATT, which will be South Korea's largest tower, is also included in this detailed image, but with an incorrect completion date of 2009.
